Orchard Road Christmas

One thing about Singaporeans is they love to celebrate any holiday.  There is a real mix of people so we have a few buddhist, muslim, and christian holidays off from work.  Almost every holiday results in extravagant street decorations and Christmas, as far as we have seen, is the greatest.  Orchard Road, which is the main shopping drag, goes big with their decorations every year so after dinner one night we went to take in all the lights.

Stores are decorated inside and out and there are lights in the trees and hanging across the road.  There are lights and decorations everywhere you look.  It visually says it is Christmas time but the brain still can't process it since it is 90 degrees and you are wearing shorts.  The grocery store has been playing Christmas music since Thanksgiving but it is some of the worst and most annoying Christmas music I've ever heard.

Found this tree right near the restaurant we were at.
One of the only trees without people standing all around.
Its hard to get a good picture with all the headlights but there are light
banners across the street for as far as the eye can see.
As we were walking we saw these lifestyle nativity scene characters.  I ran over, excited to see the nativity in Singapore.  I turned to Derek and asked, "Where is baby Jesus? How can it be Christmas with out baby Jesus?!?!"  We saw the sign and realized it was just a part of the Christmas story but couldn't see where the rest was.  I was rather disappointed until we got further down the street and found the rest of it.  No one was reading the display signs to learn the Christmas story but I was just happy to see they keep the Christ in Christmas.
The Nativity!  There you are, baby Jesus!
Snowflake like decorations on a mall
This is the Paragon hotel that made the whole building festive.
A tree made out of Ferrero Rocher.  Pretty sure it isn't
real though.  That would be one chocolatey mess in
this heat.
What's Christmas without contortionists?
The fountain at Takashimaya all lit up
What you can't really see about the decorations at Tangs is the
whimsical lights over the walk way.  Walking under them
made you feel like it was a fairytale Christmas.
This fountain is temporary in the little winter park they set up.
I hear further down the road they make snow but we didn't go see it.
The biggest and brightest tree on Orchard.  So big you
can walk inside it.
Christmas bells inside the tree.  We couldn't stay long
because it felt like that much bright, twinkling light
would give you a seizure.
After enjoying the lights on Orchard we headed back home and stopped at our favorite ice cream place, Udders.  They have different flavors and awesome sundaes.  Everything is fresh and homemade!
Om Nom Nom Sundae.   That is actually the name of it.
This is the tacky tree outside the mall next to our apartment.
We see people taking pictures of it all the time so we
had to get one of our own.
Merry Christmas!
